Star Plastics Receives Positive Sustainability Appraisal
Star Plastics, an industry leading custom compounder of engineering-grade thermoplastics, recently received a “good” rating from EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of corporate sustainability ratings. Star was awarded a commitment badge in recognition of the company’s sustainability achievements.
“Star has been a recycler focused on sustainability during our entire 35 years,” said Doug Ritchie, founder and vice president of corporate strategy. “We’re proud to receive this specific assessment from EcoVadis, and even more importantly, it gives us a detailed roadmap for improving our sustainability practices going forward.”
EcoVadis bases its ratings on four sustainability themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Founded in 2007, the company has rated over 100,000 companies in 175 countries. The EcoVadis assessment process evaluates companies across 21 sustainability indicators.
“This rating gives us a holistic view of our sustainability performance,” said Cheyenne Shankle, business development executive and EcoVadis project manager. “We’ll be anxious to see our improvement from year to year based on our focus areas, thanks to the hard work of all Star Plastics’ employees.”
