Exhibitor interview: LaserLinc
For our first exhibitor interview we have Stuart Manser, CRO for LaserLinc.
LaserLinc manufactures in-process and off-line non-contact measurement and visualization systems for a multitude of high-value industries especially: wire, cable, fiber optic, medical, automotive and aerospace. The company enables accurate and reliable measurement of many dimensions and features including: inside and outside diameter, wall thickness, surface flaws and profile. LaserLinc is 100% USA-owned, operated, and manufactured.
What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?
Alternate vendors claim to offer the same, but LaserLinc is the only company to offer truly flexible and scalable in-process and metrology visualization products. We provide unmatched adaptability to assure optimal solutions using existing production line measurement devices and sensors at minimal cost, while offering an upgrade path to meet future needs.
Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?
Yes. the Profile Vu FlawSense - Inline surface dimensional flaw detection and OD/Ovality measurements with laser line triangulation. It is the only true 360° surface flaw detection system with 3D flaw qualification playback.
What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today and how can this be overcome?
Firstly, people - hiring, training and retaining at all levels and skills in the extrusion sector. To over come this we want closer alignment with education including high-schools, community colleges and universities by providing work experience, internships and apprenticeships, with continuing 'paid' education and advancement opportunities. Secondly, the c osts from increasing materials and salaries.
How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?
Focused on greater efficiencies. Automation and data-monitoring to counter increasing costs.
What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?
Getting to meet a wide segment of people from the plastic extrusion industry. Listen to their challenges and see if we can help them improve their production environment and products.
