In this exhibitor interview we spoke to Felix Jakob, Head of Sales Chemicals and Performance Materials at Schenck Process Europ.

Schenck Process has been providing weighing and feeding, material handling and service solutions to the Petrochemical and Performance Materials industries for over 100 years. What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

We are working on enhancing our digital offerings on our cloud-based ecosystem, Schenck Process Next, as well as additional energy-efficient solutions in material handling. Unfortunately, the details are currently confidential.

What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today and how can this be overcome?

The drive to reduce our carbon footprint and increase the use of recycled materials means that companies need to rethink their current value chain, end-to-end. Addressing these challenges requires enhanced collaboration and sharing of expertise of all suppliers in the process chain, to combine their expertise into viable processes and products to fulfil the criteria of sustainable production.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

We are working in a very exciting time of change and many things will not return to how they used to be. The global pandemic has increased the impetus for digitalisation which presents a huge opportunity for Europe to maximise their technology leadership in machine manufacturing and production.

On the other hand, the EU must ensure an economic environment in which producers will not suffer due to competitiveness in the global market. If this is controlled, we will see a stronger and greener Chemicals & Performance Materials industry by 2030.

What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?

I am sure everyone is thrilled to finally have physical exhibitions back and I am looking forward to fruitful discussions about innovative ways of designing the future of our industry.
