In this week's exhibitor interview we spoke to Andy Kovats P.E, Sales Manager Plastic Compounding at Brabender Technologie.

Brabender Technologie is a recognized world leader in supplying precision Loss-in-Weight Feeders for starve feeding co-rotating twin screw extruders for plastic compounding applications. From a trickle to a torrent, from very small lab feeders to huge production lines, from very easy flowing pellets to the toughest flowing powders  and fibres, it has the feeding solution for your dry and liquid feeding applications.  

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?   

Brabender’s only business is precision feeders; feeders for us are not a side-line but our main business. We have the widest variety of feed mechanisms available on the market to suit all the new emerging customer materials to be fed.  Brabender also has very strong customer service and support.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

We are currently working new mechanical developments to feed new emerging fibres for the recycling industry, new design for pellet feeders to improve cleanability and LIW liquid feeders to standardize product offerings. On the controls side a new generation of controls will be presented to the market in the 3Q of 2021.    

What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today and how can this be overcome?   

We need to improve the public’s perception of plastics not as a pollutant but something that adds to our quality of life.  Advances need to be made in green technology and recycling to minimize waste and to re-use where possible.  

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years? 

The biggest advances in feeding will be in the controls area as this technology continues to develop.    

What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?   

For me, the opportunity to see old friends and clients in person again. Also, the opportunity to present the new developments that we are working on and the opportunity to apply these at client sites.
