Exhibitor Interview: Dynisco

In our next Exhibitor Interview we caught up with  Johannes Lorenz, Key Account and Sales Manager at Dynisco Europe GmBH about exciting technology developments and what they are looking forward to at Plastics Extrusion World Expo this year.

Johannes has been Sales Manager for Dynisco since 2017 responsible for OEMs and Key Accounts. His previous positions at Dynisco were Business Development Manager and Application Engineer.

For almost 20 years he worked in the plastic industry in R&D as well as tech service and sales roles for industry leaders in foam extrusion, compounding and bioplastics.

Dynisco has more than six decades of commitment to helping customers provide a true “window into the process”. Dynisco's leading-edge quality products and innovative solutions provide indication and control for critical plastic process measurements including, pressure, temperature and polymer rheology. Harnessing these critical parameters allow the plastic processor to reduce lot to lot variations, reduce scrap, improve productivity, and integrate recycled materials into their process without sacrificing product quality.

What do you think is currently the biggest challenge facing your industry?

One trend we see is the need to increase recycling content. This means that waste streams, be it post-industrial or post-consumer, need to be classified and sorted as per their quality and properties. This brings plastics recycling to a new level in terms of technology needed. Furthermore the current “plastic-bashing” ignores the fact that plastics provide the most sustainable solutions in many cases still.

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

In our core market, that being our sensors, we have the most diverse product portfolio. Through this we are able to provide our customers with highly customized products if needed. We are growing fast in the analytics area (i.e. polymer evaluation) where we are transitioning from a manufacturer of measuring equipment to an information provider.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

We are bringing the data generated by our sensors and polymer evaluation equipment into the Cloud by offering tailor made solutions. The cloud offering is known as the new Dynisco Cloud Connect platform powered by Microsoft Azure®.

The new Dynisco LCR7500 Capillary Rheometer with new RheoSights™ analytical software and the new Dynisco LMI5500 Melt Flow Indexer both enable the customer to use these services out of the box with the purchase of a subscription.

New sensing techniques that present an alternative to the traditional use of fill media for sensitive applications such as medical or food and beverage. It not only eliminates hazardous fluids but fill fluids at all. Besides the obvious advantage that no hazardous material is present it also greatly improves accuracy and signal quality as well as mechanical robustness.

What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?

Showcasing our latest innovations. Helping to educate and create awareness around the importance of understanding rheological data as part of one’s process and showing how Dynisco can help provide a window into that process.

Dynisco will be exhibiting at Plastics Extrusion World Expo in Essen, Germany, 3 - 4 June at stand C1130.
